As the festive season is upon us, we are all busy shopping and visiting beauticians to look our very best.
There are, however, a few self care things that you could actually do at home with minimum, readily available ingredients that will make you look and feel your festive best!
Let's begin this festive series with a simple body scrub that will keep your skin supple and hydrated as the temperatures start to fall.
Himalayan salt is my favourite salt for exfoliation to remove dead skin cells. The salt is believed to help improve circulation and detoxify the skin. It also balances the pH levels and provides the skin with essential minerals.
While regular salt can be drying, the minerals in Himalayan salt help to hydrate the skin.
This salt also brightens complexion by stimulating circulation. Not only does this improve blood flow, but it also helps to bring out a natural glow.
Himalayan salt is a natural detoxifier and helps to draw out impurities from the skin, leaving it feeling clean and refreshed.
Himalayan Detox Body Scrub (50 Gram Batch):
Ingredients:
HImalayan Pink salt: 39 gms (1/3rd cup approx)
Sweet Almond Oil: 7 gms (1/2 Tablespoon Approx)
Coconut Oil: 3 gms (1/2 Tsp Approx)
Vit E Oil: 0.5 gms ( You can use 2-3 drops of it or 1 Evion capsule)
Steam Distilled Sweet Orange Essential Oil : 0.5 gms (2 -3 Drops) This is optional
Method:
Mix all the ingredients together. Blend well. That's it!
Store in a clean, dry container.
Scoop out with a spoon onto your palms and massage in circular motions before shower.
Things to consider:
Do not use more than 1% of essential oils of the total formulation. It can cause reactions and sensitivity.
Carrier oils can be substituted with any other favourite oil of yours.
Do not keep coconut oil more than 10 gms as it can harden in Winters and make it tougher to scoop out.
Use a clean dry spoon to scoop out the product. Wet hands or spoon can lead to contamination.
If you prefer more grainy scrub, then reduce the oil content and add that balance oil amount to the salt. The opposite if you like it more liquidy.
Do give it a try and enjoy the buffed, silky smoothness of your skin!
